  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 cup cooked sausage or chicken optional
  • 1 cup chopped spinach
  • ½ cup diced onions
  • ½ cup diced bell peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp black pepper
  • ½ tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tbsp butter

Instructions
 

Prepare the Bread

  • Cut the bread into small cubes. Use slightly dry bread for best texture. Fresh bread may turn too soft. Spread cubes evenly in a greased baking dish.

Cook the Vegetables

  • Heat butter in a pan. Add onions, garlic, and peppers. Cook until soft and fragrant. Add spinach last and cook briefly. Let everything cool slightly.

Add Protein (Optional)

  • If using sausage or chicken, cook it first. Make sure it is fully done. Cut into small pieces. Spread it over the bread cubes evenly.

Mix the Egg Base

  • In a large bowl, crack the eggs. Add milk, salt, pepper, and oregano. Whisk well until smooth and fully combined.

Combine Ingredients

  • Add cooked vegetables over the bread. Sprinkle cheddar and Parmesan cheese evenly. Pour the egg mixture slowly over everything.

Let It Soak

  • Press the bread gently with a spoon. This helps it soak the liquid. Let it rest for 15 minutes or refrigerate overnight.

Bake the Strata

  • Preheat oven to 180°C (350°F). Bake for 40–45 minutes. The top should be golden and firm. Let it cool for 5–10 minutes before serving.
